High Tech Dormer Corp. is a Medford specialist in something most general contractors do not attempt: raising an existing roof to create a second level. The Better Business Bureau describes it as a patented roof raising company specializing in shed dormer construction, a Massachusetts corporation incorporated in April 1987 with six employees and president Robert Terenzoni. The strongest objective signal is permit history rather than reviews. BuildZoom lists 81 projects for the company, two of them in the past two years, one valued between $20,000 and $50,000 and the other between $100,000 and $250,000 — the range you would expect from dormer and addition work rather than small repairs. BuildZoom also lists Addition and Electrical Work among its services. A homeowner posting on Reddit in February 2026 said they worked with the company on a two-storey addition and that it partnered with another company to finish the interior, adding that they book pretty far out. That fits a roof-raising specialist's model — they open up and frame the structure, and another trade completes the inside — but it is one unverified comment, and if you need interior finishes you should establish up front who is doing them and under whose contract. The Better Business Bureau grades the company A+, though it is not BBB accredited. A reviewer there described extensive work across several parts of a house and praised the crew's workmanship, without giving a date. Two things need checking before you hire. First, the record is extremely thin: exactly one customer review exists across every source, so there is almost nothing published about how this company prices, communicates or handles problems. Second, the only licence BuildZoom holds on file is an Electrician licence, number 16675, which expired on 31 July 2001 and which BuildZoom re-verified as expired in June 2026 — the reason its BuildZoom score is 0. That is a directory's record, not a verified account of what the company currently holds, and it does not speak to a construction supervisor or home improvement contractor registration. Ask directly for current licence and registration numbers and check them with the state. High Tech Dormer is worth a conversation if you are considering a shed dormer or a second-level addition and want a firm that does roof raising as its core business rather than as an occasional job. Given the thin public record, ask for recent local references, confirm current licensing and insurance yourself, get the interior-finish arrangement in writing, and expect a wait.
“We worked with hitech dorms who partnered with another company to finish the interior. They book pretty far out though.”
Hi-Tech dormer did extensive work on my house including framing a shed dormer, building a totally new roof and rafters, framing new stairway, window replacement, re-siding the exterior with REMOVEDand redoing trim, and building a new covered entry. The crew really did outstanding work and was a pleasure to work with.
