Heat Huggers is a Whitman insulation and air-sealing outfit that has been busy. BuildZoom's permit history shows 58 permitted jobs, 57 of them in the past three years — attic, wall and kneewall insulation and air-sealing in Springfield, Waltham, Brookline, Plymouth, Malden, Framingham and beyond, at a typical permit value near $4,055. Most of that work runs through Mass Save: the company says it helps homeowners book the program's no-cost home energy assessment, and one customer confirmed being put in contact with them that way. Its Massachusetts Supplier Diversity Office certification as a Minority Business Enterprise is active, running through April 2028.
When the crews arrive, people are pleased with them. A May 2026 customer had their attic insulated and singled out Tony, who ran the crew, as easy to work with. In a December 2025 review a homeowner said Richard answered questions about insulation in more depth than they had expected. Two August 2024 Angi reviewers described crews showing up on time and treating the house respectfully.
Getting them to arrive is what the complaints keep circling. An Angi reviewer in December 2025 said the company confirmed the time and location for a three-day job — Angi's profile puts the job at $13,800 — then failed to show, called about an incident with their truck and a reschedule, and never called back. That same month a Google reviewer, connected through Mass Save, said that weeks after the work finished the home's siding proved not to have been properly installed, and described the company as responsive at first. In October 2024 a reviewer said their daughter hired the company to cut noise from the condo next door, that a company representative predicted insulating the wall would reduce sound by around 65% on a $1,200 estimate, and warned others away.
The platforms don't agree. Google averages 3.3 across four ratings; Angi averages 4.0 across four, three fives and a one. Angi's profile lists no warranties and no emergency service, and gives two different figures for how long the company has been doing this — 8 years in one field, 17 in another.
Licensing is worth pinning down too. BuildZoom checked in December 2023 and concluded this contractor does not need a Massachusetts contractor licence, yet it also lists a Massachusetts asbestos contractor licence, AC1135, which it labels unverified with a March 2026 expiration; Angi carries a self-reported trade licence, CSSL-106278. None of those was confirmed against a state registry here.
If Mass Save routes you here for attic or wall insulation, the hands-on work draws good notices. Get start dates and the scope in writing, ask specifically who reinstalls anything the crew removes — siding above all — and don't take a numeric promise about noise reduction unless it is written into the contract.
