Freeland Woodworks works out of Plymouth, and the name that comes up in nearly every one of its 70 Google reviews is Mike Freeland himself, out on the job with his crew. The business runs as a general contractor, but the through-line in what people hire them for is finish carpentry: built-in bookcases, cabinets flanking a fireplace, a fully custom entertainment center built around a sprinkler line the fire department wouldn't let anyone move, a staircase re-trimmed with crown molding that one homeowner said looked original to the house. Nothing negative turns up. Across 78 Google ratings the average is a flat 5 stars, and the 15 reviews posted since January describe a deck's structural support posts replaced cleanly, a pantry rebuilt around a homeowner's own layout ideas, a bathroom renovation, and a bedroom/closet remodel — each one closing with the reviewer saying they'd call again. Two reviewers posted in February describing seven years of repeat work with Mike: one for two sets of built-ins, a finished basement, and a home addition with an in-law space; the other saying they haven't stopped calling him since that first job. That kind of repeat business, paired with a Better Business Bureau A+ accreditation, is worth more than any single five-star post. A few specifics worth noting before calling: reviewers describe Mike personally walking through design choices before work starts — drawing up pantry plans around a customer's stated needs, suggesting color-changing LED lighting for built-in shelving, and in one case catching that a customer's porch was actually sinking before the crew started the railing work that had been asked for. Communication comes up often too, with daily texts about arrival times cited more than once. What's less visible from outside Google: the Better Business Bureau confirms the A+ rating and accreditation, but its own page doesn't show a customer review count, so there's no second, independent read on complaint history beyond what's collected here. Freeland Woodworks reads like a fit for built-in and finish-carpentry work — cabinetry, mantels, trim, staircases — as well as room-scale additions and remodels where that same carpentry shows up in the details. Worth confirming the project timeline directly and whether Mike's crew or a subcontractor handles any adjacent trade work a specific addition or bathroom job requires.

Mike and his crew replaced the structural support posts on our deck. They were professional, communicated well throughout the project, kept the site clean, and the finished work looks great. We’re very happy with the quality of the work and would recommend Freeland Woodworks.

Mike is responsive, straightforward, and honest — the kind of contractor who gives you a real answer and not just a sales pitch. As a fellow tradesman, that matters more than most people realize. When I talk to him about work, it's clear he genuinely cares about doing things right, not just doing things fast. If you need a general contractor in the Plymouth area, especially for carpentry, decks, or remodeling, I'd send my own friends and family his way. That's about the highest recommendation I can give.

We recently called Freeland Woodworks for an exterior remodel on our home in Plymouth, and the results exceeded every expectation we had going into the project. From start to finish, the entire process was handled with professionalism, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to quality craftsmanship. The window installation alone has completely transformed both the look and feel of our home. Not only do they enhance the exterior aesthetic, but we’ve already noticed a significant improvement in insulation and natural light inside. The team took great care to ensure the triple window was perfectly fitted and sealed, and their precision really shows. The new doors are equally impressive—solid and secure. They’ve added a level of curb appeal that we didn’t realize was possible, while also improving functionality and energy efficiency. It’s clear that only high-quality materials were used. My favorite part, and what truly ties everything together is the exterior trim work. The craftsmanship here is outstanding. Every line is clean, every joint seamless, and the finishing details give the home a polished, cohesive look that stands out in the neighborhood. Beyond the work itself, the crew was punctual, respectful, and communicative throughout the entire project. They kept the job site clean and made sure we were informed at every stage. It’s rare to find a team that combines skill, reliability, and customer care so well. If you’re considering an exterior remodel in Plymouth, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Freeland Woodworks. The transformation of our home has been remarkable, and the quality of work speaks for itself. Thank you Mike.

Mike and his crew just finished a build-out of our existing pantry that had been outfitted with inappropriate shelving and had lots of wasted space. Mike drew up plans based on our input, and carried them out with care and precision. Each day, the crew arrived on time, worked until it was time to leave, cleaned the area and removed trash each day before they left. The lines of communication were always open, too, so everything went smoothly. The result is a beautiful pantry with lots of storage area. I could not be more thrilled. Thanks, Freeland Woodworks!
