Foliaire is a design-build greenscape firm working out of Boston's South End, taking on both interior plantscaping — office lobbies, indoor gardens — and exterior work like rooftop gardens and custom-built living walls. The company describes itself as in business for "over 40 years," though BBB records put the figure at 45 years and a separate Boston directory dates it back to 1980; whichever number is right, this is a long-running South End operation, not a new entrant. On Google, Foliaire holds a 3.6-star average, but from only 7 ratings, and the handful of other reviews on file are mixed rather than uniformly positive. The sharpest complaint describes two crew members loudly cursing and arguing while working at a neighboring South End property, audible from several floors up in an adjoining building — a complaint about conduct on the job site rather than the finished landscaping. Elsewhere, the firm has picked up trade recognition: Houzz lists a Greater Boston Business Council Community Service Award and two Environmental Improvement awards from the Associated Landscape Contractors of America, and one directory placed it on a "best landscaper contractors in Boston" shortlist. Foliaire isn't BBB accredited, though BBB also shows no complaints filed against it. Its own site states a service area of Boston, the South End, South Boston, and as far as Rockport — a self-reported claim worth confirming against your own address before booking. This reads as a design-oriented greenscape shop, better suited to a substantial rooftop terrace, courtyard, or interior planting installation than routine yard maintenance. Given the one on-record conduct complaint, it's worth asking how crew behavior is supervised on-site, and confirming which of the towns it lists are being actively served right now.

Two of the employees at Foliaire were yelling and cursing extremely loudly as they were working at my neighbors house in the south end. They were arguing so loudly that I could hear them on the 4th floor.

These people may be amazing at landscape design, but the way one of their employees drives his pickup around the South End - way too fast and driving through stop signs without regard to pedestrians - guarantees I'll never use them. It's a pleasure to patronize local businesses that are also good community citizens.

I worked with Scott and his team at Foliaire to design a planting scheme for my outdoor terrace. My experience was first class, professional, and perfectly executed. The care, attention to detail, and execution far exceeded my high expectations. The experience from start to finish was one I can't speak highly enough about. From installation, follow up, maintenance and delivery of the finest quality was better than I could ever expect. They are the leader in city environments, collaborative and of the highest quality. I can't speak highly enough about the company, Scott and the team. Please use them.

The corporate office I work at is landscaped by Foliaire and everything always looks healthy and green. We have an awesome pothos green wall and a bunch of other plants including a Ficus. The landscapers that visit our office for upkeep are always super receptive and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend.
