Flaherty Construction is listed as a masonry and waterproofing outfit at 2294 Massachusetts Ave in Cambridge, doing foundation and basement work. A website tied to the business name talks up decades of experience and a family-owned setup, but that site's address puts the company in Los Angeles, CA, not Cambridge — so those background claims don't clearly belong to the business at this address, and shouldn't be taken as established fact here. Google shows a 4-star average across eight ratings, and the split behind that number matters. Four reviews from Fall 2025 described a crew that kept appointments, communicated clearly, and left sites clean, with one customer crediting foreman James for paver work and another recommending the company specifically for foundation problems. Then, in March 2026, two different customers each left a single star — one said work done in their home started falling apart within months and called the crew careless, the other said the job damaged their property. With only eight ratings total and that swing from praise to complaints inside a few months, there isn't much history to lean on in either direction. Worth asking directly about what happened with the two recent complaints and seeing finished work in person before signing anything — and worth double-checking that flahertyconstructions.com is actually this company's site, since right now it reads like a Los Angeles business's page. This reads as a small, thinly reviewed operation at the moment. Reasonable to call for foundation, masonry, or paver work, but ask for references from the last few months specifically before booking.

Flaherty Construction is a complete disaster — unprofessional, careless, and abysmally incompetent. Every bit of work they touched in my home started falling apart within months. Avoid them at all cost.

I highly recommend them to anyone looking for top-tier construction services.

Flaherty Construction exceeded my expectations from start to finish. Their communication was clear, consistent, and professional throughout the entire project. The crew arrived on time each day, maintained a clean worksite, and showed great attention to detail in every phase of the job.
