DM Storrs Chimney Services does inspections, sweeps, relining, repairs and masonry chimney rebuilds, plus fireplace and stove installation, and works residential, commercial and industrial buildings alike. Dana Storrs is listed as the owner. The company describes itself as veteran-owned and family-owned, and lists a stack of trade credentials on its own site: Chimney Safety Institute of America Certified Chimney Professionals, a Massachusetts Unrestricted Construction Supervisor License, membership in the Massachusetts and National Chimney Sweep Guilds and the North East Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association, an Angie's List Super Service Award, and status as an installer of M-Flex stainless liners. Every one of those is the company's own statement rather than something confirmed against a registry, and the Construction Supervisor License is the one worth asking to see in person. One discrepancy deserves a direct question. The site claims 25 years in business, while the Better Business Bureau records a start date of 1/1/2012 and counts 14 years. The Bureau grades the company A+ and publishes no complaints against it; it is not BBB accredited, and no customer reviews appear there either. What you have, then, is a business with a clear specialty and a clean Bureau file, and nothing yet from the people who actually hired them. If you need a liner, an annual inspection or a chimney rebuilt, ask for the CSIA certification numbers and the CSL, and for two or three recent local jobs you can call.
