Danino's Renovations is a one-person, family-run general contracting outfit in Newton, Massachusetts, led by Shimon Danino. A company bio pegs its start at 1997; the Better Business Bureau's own file puts the same business at 31 years running, which lands a couple of years earlier — either way, this isn't a new operation. The work described spans custom carpentry, deck repair, basement finishing, and bathroom remodeling, including jobs on the area's older Victorian housing stock. The reputation is thin in volume but consistent in tone: Google shows five ratings, all five stars, and directory write-ups echo the same themes — reliable, responsive, reasonably priced. There isn't yet a deep bench of independent reviews to stress-test that pattern against, so treat it as an early, promising read rather than a settled one. Before booking, it's worth asking about accreditation: the Bureau gives Danino's Renovations an A+ grade, but the business has never sought formal BBB accreditation, which is voluntary but still a gap some homeowners like to see closed. It's also worth confirming exactly which entity is doing the work — a same-family business, Danino's Contracting & Custom Carpentry LLC, turns up a few miles away in Newtonville under a different address and a BuildZoom score of 97, and public listings don't make clear whether a given job runs through one company or the other. For a Newton homeowner tackling a bathroom job, a stalled project, or carpentry-heavy work, Shimon Danino's long run in the trade and clean regulatory record are a reasonable starting point — just ask directly which entity will hold the contract and get a couple of recent references, since the public trail here is still short.

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Shea, Shimon, and their crew finished up our primary bedroom and bathroom that had been roughed out by a previous contractor. Talk about the most professional, kind, capable artisans! We've since hired Shea and Shimon for other, smaller projects, and will for any more work we have done. They are so responsive and well-connected. We are very grateful for them.
