The Fairhaven company says it began in 1989 with brothers Domingos and Fernando DaCosta building chimneys, porches and walkways, and that it now runs as a union shop taking on large commercial, educational and municipal masonry in Massachusetts and on multi-state projects. Its BBB profile lists 70 employees. The public trail matches that description. A brick industry award page names Costa Brothers as the mason on Hildreth Elementary School in Harvard, Massachusetts, a 2022 Best in Class winner in the K-12 education category. A 2022 court record lists the company among the subcontractors Consigli engaged on a project. And in 2014, SouthCoast Today reported that a competitor had underbid Costa Brothers by $16,000 on a Revere school, and that the city awarded the job to Costa Brothers after court decisions against the low bidder were brought to it. The Massachusetts Supplier Diversity Office registry lists an active Women Business Enterprise certification for the company, expiring in November 2026. The business describes itself as family-owned and now led by Lisa DaCosta Lopez, daughter of former president Domingos, and Rhode Island corporate filings list her as president — though the BBB profile, whose file was opened in 2018, still names Domingos Costa and rates the company Not Rated, saying it lacks enough information to issue a grade. Two public records belong in plain view. A federal violations database records a $21,840 penalty against the company in 2017 for an overtime wage-and-hour violation. Separately, a 1999 appellate record shows former employees alleging a discriminatory failure to rehire had summary judgment entered against them, which they were appealing. What is missing is the part a homeowner usually leans on: almost nothing here comes from customers. Google carries 4.2 from five ratings with no written accounts behind it, and the Procore listing sits unclaimed with no reviews or credentials. For a school, municipal or commercial brick package, this is a long-established union subcontractor with award-recognized work and a 37-year history. For work on a house, there is nothing here describing how that kind of job goes.
