Twenty-six years on the South Shore, and the thing that keeps surfacing about Corbo Construction is finishing. Jim Corbo runs the Marshfield shop himself — the company's site says he stays hands-on from first consultation through final walkthrough — and BBB lists it as a sole proprietorship of two people, started in 2000. The work splits between custom decks, which the company calls its specialty, and interior renovation. BuildZoom's permit file bears that out across 31 permitted projects: bathroom gut-and-rebuilds, kitchen work, a two-bedroom addition, deck and platform builds, and water-damage reconstruction in Hingham after a burst kitchen pipe — plus one outlier, a 2014 interior renovation at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston. Most jobs land between $5,000 and $20,000; one reached the $100,000–$250,000 band. BuildZoom scores the company 101, which it puts in the top 12% of Massachusetts licensed contractors, and BBB grades it A+ without accreditation. Customer comment is scarce, but the one there is runs deep. A homeowner writing in May 2026, after a full first-floor renovation, said the crew was "very reliable always on time," that "the cleanup daily was meticulous," and that "the job gets done on a timeline he commits to." Back in 2011, a Patriot Ledger story named Jim Corbo as one of three contractors who built a deck for a war veteran. Two things to raise before booking. By BBB's count this is a two-person operation, so ask how a larger project would be crewed and scheduled. And BuildZoom lists a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration it marks "not verified," with a last-seen expiration of August 2026 — confirm that directly with the state before you sign. For a deck, a bathroom, or a first-floor renovation on the South Shore, this is a small owner-run outfit whose permit history and reputation for clean, on-schedule job sites carry more weight than its star count. Pin down the timeline in writing and check the registration, and you'll know what you're hiring.
““This guy knew nothing about it,” said Jim Corbo, owner of Marshfield-based Corbo Construction, one of three contractors that worked on the project.”
Jim Corbo and his team spent many hours in my home doing a renovation of my first floor. They were very reliable always on time and the cleanup daily was meticulous. Jim runs a tight ship and his workers are reliable and extremely talented in what they do. I would refer this team of hard workers to anyone needing any amount of work done on their home. Big or small the job gets done on a timeline he commits to. This made my renovation stress free and the finished product looks fabulous!
