Brandon Landscaping handles the yard work for a wide stretch of the South Shore — Pembroke, Marshfield, Duxbury, Kingston, and a dozen towns around them — and the thing that keeps surfacing across reviews is attention to detail on the routine stuff: weekly mowing, fall cleanups, edging, mulch. The company says Stephen Brandon started it in 2009 with a push mower and grew it into a full landscape-and-hardscape operation; Brandon still owns and runs it today. On Google, 85 ratings average 4.7 stars, and the BBB lists the business at an A+ grade (it isn't seeking accreditation). Customers who've stuck around for years — some for five-plus seasons — describe a crew that shows up on schedule and clears its own debris, and the same names come up for bigger jobs too: retaining walls, paver patios, and full yard replacements with irrigation layered on top of the weekly mowing route. The last six months complicate that picture, though: of ten Google reviews posted since January, three are one-star. One customer says a crew arrived to apply fertilizer without notice and left both yard gates open, and a dog got loose in the process — a real safety lapse, not a minor gripe. Another describes mowing consistency slipping over the course of a season, along with flowers planted that weren't what was discussed. A third calls a spring cleanup a complete horror show, citing a large crew that made a mess quickly and poor communication throughout. Unauthorized fertilizer treatments aren't a single incident, either — it's a complaint that turns up more than once across the review history. Before booking, it's worth pinning down exactly what a maintenance visit includes and getting add-on treatments like fertilizer confirmed in writing, since more than one recent complaint centers on work done without a green light. If the crew will be on-site while you're out — gates, pets, deliveries — it's also worth spelling out access expectations given the account above. Brandon Landscaping is a reasonable call for a South Shore homeowner who wants one company to run the weekly lawn and eventually take on a bigger hardscape project — the retaining-wall and patio work described here reads as more than a basic mow-and-blow operation. Just get the scope of each visit in writing and ask directly about the gate and notification issue before handing over a key or access code.

The team at Brandon landscaping did fantastic job on our complete yard replacement + irrigation. Very hands on, great communication and execution. I’m ecstatic with the results and HIGHLY recommend them. Nothing like fresh loam, sod and irrigation to fix what was a horrible yard. Cheers!

We highly recommend Brandon Landscaping. We use them for routine mowing and seasonal clean ups. We are always happy with how the yard comes out and we just recently did a large retaining wall project with them and have received nothing but compliments from neighbors and we are EXTREMELY happy with how it came out. The crew was always on-time, flagged anything not going to plan immediately and was very conscientious of our 3 young kids during the excavation and build process. We will be using Brandon Landscaping for any hardscape work we plan to do in the future and will continue to use them for our weekly mowing.
