Axel Landscaping and Fence works out of Lynn, and the work people call them for is fences — replacement posts, panels, and full property-line installs, with landscaping and gardening as a stated sideline. The business says it has been around for 11 to 14 years, per its Thumbtack listing and BBB profile, run by owner Axel Lopez Lopez. The clearest window into recent work comes from this spring. In mid-April, a homeowner who had a fence replaced along a property line reported it came in taller and more stable than requested — a specific account of the actual build. A May review recommends the crew for landscaping and patio work too. That account sits next to a serious complaint from late April: a customer says Axel verbally confirmed pressure-treated wood would be used for a fence post and panel repair, then untreated pine went in instead — a substitution flagged independently by a neighbor who's a contractor and by a Home Depot employee. That's a specific claim about the materials actually installed, not a vague scheduling gripe. Outside that recent split, Thumbtack puts the business at 4.7 stars across 35 ratings and 45 completed hires, with the owner background-checked. Google tells a thinner, lower story — 3.5 stars from just 8 ratings, a gap worth noting rather than averaging away. BBB lists the business at an A+ grade, though it is not BBB-accredited. Before booking, get the material specification in writing — brand, treatment type, thickness — given the one clear account of a mismatch between what was promised and what was installed. Beyond that, the fence work itself draws specific praise for durability and fit. Axel Landscaping and Fence looks like a reasonable call for a straightforward fence replacement or a landscaping cleanup, with enough of a track record on Thumbtack to weigh the craftsmanship against — just confirm the materials before the crew starts.

I hired Axel Landscaping Company to replace a fence post and two panels. Per our agreement, all materials were to be pressure-treated wood. When the installer, Axel, arrived, I asked him several times to verify the material, and he repeatedly confirmed the material was pressure-treated while on-site. The following day, a neighbor who is a contractor informed me that the panels installed are actually untreated pine. That has also been confirmed by Home Depot employee. I contacted Axel to request that he fulfill the original contract by installing the correct pressure-treated panels. While he acknowledged the discrepancy, he refused to rectify the situation. I will never hire Axel company again. The fence post is covered with a lot of mildew. Axel has used the cheapest materials.

For a fence installation at a property line (between my home and someone's business): an excellent job in every way! Extra nice: this replacement fence being substantially higher than I thought to request, and being substantially more stable than the earlier one (very important in my mind despite also not getting discussed in advance).

Disappointing Experience and sad to leave negative review. We had to chase Axel Landscaping for weeks just to get an invoice, and even after three attempts, they still couldn’t spell our company name correctly. They never returned to complete the job—pebbles were left unglued, and holes weren’t filled. Completely unprofessional and frustrating. I would not recommend them and definitely would not use their services again.
