Aquatic Dreamscapes of New England is a Billerica water-feature and hardscape builder run by Joe Bumbaca. Koi ponds and waterfalls are the signature work — its Houzz page shows koi ponds in Middleton and a waterfall in Hamilton — alongside patios, retaining walls, outdoor kitchens, fire pits, pergolas, masonry and gunite pools. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 203635, is active with the state. The written record is small: three reviews between 2020 and 2025, every one of them five stars. In a February 2025 review a koi-pond owner with thirty-year-old fish wrote that Joe commits to a job come hell or high water and is extremely loyal to his clients, and said he had come recommended by Ken Brown of New England Nurseries. A May 2020 customer praised the pricing and the timeliness. A February 2020 Houzz reviewer described something different again — a complete kitchen renovation that turned a small kitchen into an open-concept one. Read the platform numbers carefully. The HomeAdvisor page is a byte-for-byte copy of the Angi profile, down to the same three review cards, and one of those three carries no review text at all, only an 'Awaiting estimate' status. So the 5.0-from-3 shown on each of those two sites is one record with two written accounts inside it, and Houzz's 5.0 rests on a single review. The company's own pages also disagree about how long it has been doing this: the Angi profile self-reports seven years of experience, while Houzz states forty. BuildZoom, which scores the business 90 and confirms the same active registration, has collected no reviews for it at all. For a koi pond, waterfall or hardscape project in the Merrimack Valley or the northwest suburbs, this is a registered contractor whose few customers speak warmly and specifically about the owner's commitment. Ask him directly how long he has been building water features, and ask to visit a finished pond — the portfolio, not the review count, is where the evidence is here.
