American Garage Door & Glass works out of 525 Woburn St in Tewksbury, and its bread and butter is the call you make when a spring snaps or a cable lets go and the car is trapped inside. The company says it has been at this since 1985. BBB records 41 years in business, 11 employees and Jack Molignano as president. Beyond doors and openers it runs a glass side — storefront windows, hollow metal doors and frames, rolling steel doors, door closers and panic hardware, shower enclosures — across eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. The accounts of the work are unusually concrete. In October 2021 a homeowner with a snapped cable had two technicians at the house in 45 minutes and the repair finished in twenty. In September 2023 a broken coil went from broken to fixed inside 24 hours. In February 2026 a homeowner whose door had been poorly installed by another company, leaving gaps that let in frigid air, said American got them out of it. This July, a customer wrote that the technician lubed every moving part, checked the door's motion, and added a strip of rubber to help keep mice out. What several people mention is the thing that didn't happen: in a June 2026 review, one wrote that the tech explained the repair and didn't oversell. The complaints are a minority — four 1-star reviews among the 43 on file — but two are recent and worth reading before you book. In March 2026 a customer wrote that the company hands work to subcontractors rather than doing it in-house, and was caught out when the check turned out to be payable to a different name. In June 2026 a condo resident described a technician parking in the fire lane and brushing off the objection after being told twice it was a no-parking zone. Two 2024 reviews are about scheduling and communication: one said the crew never turned up when promised and arrived three days later, the other described an unprofessional experience after a snowplow wrecked both garage doors at a condo development. Its BBB page shows an A+ while separately stating the business is not accredited, and BBB publishes no reviews or complaint counts of its own. For a broken spring, a dead opener or a piece of glass, this is a four-decade shop with a heavy current run of customers describing quick, competent visits. If your job is a full installation — especially in a condo or an association — ask directly who will be doing the work and who the payment is made out to.
